Assistant Cook
St. Mary's Montessori School is looking for an Assistant Cook who is self motivated and looking for a long term commitment!

The Assistant Chef is responsible for guaranteeing that the children are served nutritious, delicious meals and snacks. An ideal candidate demonstrates effective organizational, time management, problem solving and multitasking skills. In addition the candidate must have excellent knife skills and catering experience.
Job Requirements:
Assist the head chef in planning, preparing and cooking family style meals according to the school menus for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
Maintains established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation and storage as set by the local and state health departments; maintains an orderly, sanitary, and safe kitchen.
Assures the proper care and maintenance of all food service equipment; identifies equipment needs for food preparation and service.
Assists teachers with developing food activities for the children in the classroom as requested.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely service
Recognize and respect appropriate parent/student confidentiality.
Greets children and their parents warmly and with enthusiasm.
Interact with the students in a friendly and supportive manner using student’s names with calm tone of voice.
Maintains a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practices good personal hygiene and hand washing.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 year's experience in a kitchen environment
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
Catering Experience (Preferred)
Education:
Bachelors/Associates Degree or another certification in Culinary Arts (Preferred)
High school or equivalent
Food Handler's
Serve Safe (Preferred)
Job Requirements Per Department of Social Services:
CPR/First Aid Certification
Live Scan
Mandated Reporter: General Training, Child Care Provider
T/Dap & MMR Immunizations
